GPA Midstream congratulates Senate on passing SAFE PIPES Act

Tulsa, Okla. (June 14, 2016) – Last night the Senate unanimously approved S. 2276, the “SAFE PIPES Act.” This bill will reauthorize the federal pipeline safety program through fiscal year 2019.

The bill was pre-negotiated between the House and Senate committees of jurisdiction and passed the House in a voice vote on June 8. After last night’s passage, the bill now goes to President Barack Obama’s desk to be signed into law.

GPA Midstream Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Matthew Hite said, “GPA Midstream congratulates Congress for their efforts on coming together to pass bipartisan pipeline safety legislation that reauthorizes the federal pipeline safety program. We were pleased to work closely with committee leadership and staff in crafting a reauthorization bill that furthers our member companies’ commitments to safety, and we look forward to working with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Congress on its implementation.”
